How We Help

Making therapy more accessible

The Scottish Rite Foundation of Colorado provides grants to its speech-language partners to help defray the cost of speech therapy for qualified children and their families. Qualification is determined based upon need and family income.

Foundation grants are paid directly to participating professional care-giving organizations, such as Children's Hospital Colorado, rather than directly to families.

Our clinical partners provide individual and group services for children with a broad range of speech, language, communication, hearing, learning, and feeding needs.

  • Social/pragmatic language disorders, including those associated with autism
  • Childhood apraxia of speech and motor speech disorders

  • Learning needs, including dyslexia

Services vary by clinical partner and community. Many programs offer individual therapy as well as specialized group or early-language programs.

Child-Centered Care

Therapy built around each child

Speech-language therapy is most effective when children are engaged in activities that are meaningful, motivating, and matched to their individual needs. Foundation-supported clinical partners work with children and families to build communication skills through personalized therapy and practical strategies.

Early Intervention

Building language early

Early language services may include individual therapy, language-development groups, and parent education. These programs help families use language-stimulation strategies at home and in the community.

Specialized Care

Individualized support

Depending on a child's needs, clinical partners may provide specialty assessment and treatment for hearing, cleft and velopharyngeal concerns, feeding and swallowing, AAC, and other complex conditions.

Community Access

Reaching Colorado families

Foundation-supported programs have provided screenings, summer groups, and therapy services in communities across Colorado, helping children and families access care closer to home.

Financial Assistance

How to apply

A family seeking financial assistance must make a written application to a participating clinic. Families should contact the clinic directly regarding its application process. Application information is held in strict confidence by the clinic, which follows applicable confidentiality and privacy requirements.

The clinic director or other clinic official, together with a Scottish Rite appraisal committee, determines eligibility based on family income and need and, if approved, the level of assistance.

Generally, the Foundation does not pay 100% of therapy costs. Families are expected to participate in the cost of speech therapy except in the most extreme circumstances. The Foundation is unable to provide financial assistance for adult speech therapy.

The Impact

The gift of communication

Foundation-supported therapy can help children make meaningful progress—from developing early language and clearer speech to learning to communicate through an AAC device or improving feeding skills.

Recent RiteView reporting describes children benefiting from AAC support for motor speech disorders, while clinical partners continue to provide evidence-based interventions for speech, language, learning, and feeding skills.
